Wheelchair Review - Pronto M41 Captain Seat
Possibly my favourite indoor chair EVER! This chair was bought because a through-the-floor lift was fitted in our house which was tiny. We didn't know what if anything could fit in the lift and I bought this because of its tiny spec. I sold this chair to get the more configurable Pronto M41 modulite and regretted every single moment of that decision. It is not, of course, suitable for everyone and I wish I was even slightly less disabled so I could enjoy having a non-configurable chair like this!
Wheelchair type: Indoor class 2 chair
Good points: This chair is ideal for someone wanting to use a reliable indoor chair to whizz around the home because it's tiny and has a wipeable seat. The arms can be used to raise yourself up from a bed or a chair. The batteries are excellent and the chair will simply go on and on!
Not so good points: The chair is not configurable whatsoever so you are using this as personal transport around your home. It does not go up in the air.
Comparisons & cautions
Pronto M41 Modulite: If you are thinking of swapping this chair for a modulite think carefully because the modulite will not be as nippy as this chair around the house. I have done a review of the Pronto M41 Modulite as I've owned 2. I've been using my Pronto modulite with raise this morning.
Pronto M61. If you love the idea of the Pronto M41 but want to go up in the air you might want to consider this chair. However, the wheels of the M41 are placed slightly forward of the user which creates exceptional nippiness indoors whereas the M61 did have a central wheel drive. The M61 is no longer being distributed in the UK which is fine if you are a wheelchair geek and able to source second-hand parts and do your own repairs...but otherwise not a good investment.
